Career Dilemma – Should I Accept This Job or Not

Do you know, choosing a wrong job offer is a prime reason for stress at work? Next time, do not accept a job offer until you know the answers to these very important questions.

I believe, cracking a job interview is not a big deal for the right candidate as selecting a right job offer is. After passing through numerous interview rounds for a job, finally you get a call from the human resource department, “you have been selected for the role.

When you can join the department?” Here comes the time, when you ask yourself, “should I accept this job or not?” At such a stage, the possibility of discarding a job after going through a selection seems strange, but it exists. Today, I will be telling you, how to know, if a job should be accepted or rejected.

The secret is – question for a question. It is always a good idea to ask questions, so that you can finally have the desired answer. However, the most important at this point is – unbiased and honest answers to all those questions.

Here are some questions you should ask yourself to decide whether or not to accept the given job offer.

Do you have a ‘yes’ for motivation level

Ask yourself, is that job going to motivate you more than your previous job?

Trust me, salary or designations are not the only motivators.

When it is about motivation, there are a lot more things that matter.

If you are not doing things with motivation and enthusiasm, then there is no point of doing.

Watch out! If you have a yes for this question, you can accept the job offer.

Do you have a ‘yes’ for opportunities to show what you can do

This is very important, especially if you are growth conscious personality. Do not work for a place where you are not allowed to demonstrate your skills and you will have no chances to grow. If you consider that you will not be able to do your job as you know how to do it, it is better to reject the job in a friendly way.

Do you have a ‘yes’ for the questions of growth

Growth is not about designation or seniority, but about new learning, contacts, moments and resources produced. Do not confuse growth with designations.

You may be offered a higher charge than what you used to have in your previous job, but ask yourself, will it allow you to grow professionally? Will you be learning new things? If not, it is best to reject it.

Do you have a ‘yes’ for all company policies

There’s no point crying over spilled milk. Before accepting a job offer, read the company policies carefully. You must make sure that you can follow all the policies and they are affecting your performance of methodology in any way.

Do you have a ‘yes’ for the company’s authenticity

Now, this one is little tricky and tough, but not impossible. You can surely find a former employee or news about the company on the internet/social media.

Do a little homework and try to find out the truth behind the things you were told in the interview is really true or not.

Undoubtedly, every recruiter will try his level best to make you feel that his company is the best place to work.

So, there is no harm in confirming, if this is real or a mere illusion.

After all, when you are going to launch yourself to a new challenge, it is best to do it with all the energy. If you have doubts, it is best to reject the vacancy offered and find another opportunity.
